Books sorted by how they feel.

Thanks for stopping by. There isn't much here yet, but here's the plan.

Most of the translated fiction being pushed right now wants to unsettle you. Some of it is brilliant. Not much of it is what I want on a a regular Tuesday night.

The good news is that there's another tradition — warm, strange, generous — books that are scattered across a dozen languages and shelved in a dozen different places, because bookstores organize by country of origin. I organize by how a book feels.

So that's what this is: a few titles each month so you can read slowly. Presses in Edinburgh and Rochester and Tokyo and Buenos Aires. A small endeavor, but I think a good one.

And here's who I am: one (real) person, living by the shore of Lake Michigan, who reads slowly and can't wait to tell you exactly why each book is here.

One email a month — the drop, plus what I've been reading and why. No spam, mostly because I don't have time to write any.
